Dreaming
2008/11/27 09:23
I just had this crazy dream. It involved Snoop Dogg, real estate, and professional ultimate. Then I woke up, checked my e-mail, and I had this e-mail from someone that was related to my dream. I knew I’d been dreaming, so I spent some time trying to figure out how that made sense, until I realized that I hadn’t actually woken up and checked my email. I was still in bed. That was also a dream. I’d had a dream in another dream. I don’t know how often that happens, but it was really cool.

Maybe Kampala?

I’m hoping to go to Uganda for 3 weeks in early December to visit my friend Templar and help him out with some of his projects. It’s pretty last minute, so there’s a good chance that it will fall through, but for me this is really exciting. I think it has the potential to be one of the greatest experiences of my life. I’m hoping my parents don’t remember that you’re supposed to get vaccinations before going there and freak out because I don’t have time to get them. Thankfully, I don’t think they know I have a web site.
If this actually happens, I’ll try to post here regarding my experiences. It should be pretty interesting, so if there’s anyone still reading this (Ofer?), I’d suggest you check in here in December to see what’s up.

I haven’t posted anything in a while. My friend Ofer was asking me about that today (I was pleasantly surprised that he was reading this), so I feel I should post some explanation.
There’s really been two reasons. The first is that I discovered Matt Mackey’s ultimate blog, It’s really good. It’s so good that it gave me a serious crisis of confidence regarding whether there was any value to my own writings on ultimate. I will start writing again, but I want to stop doing such a sloppy job of it, because he’s kind of inspired me.
The other thing is for the past three weeks I’ve been waking up coughing in the middle of the night, knocking back some more nyquil, and then sleeping in until noon (it’s powerful stuff). That has severely limited the number of waking hours in my day, and with school, family, and friends, writing stuff online didn’t make the cut.
Back to Mackey’s blog. There are a few things that make it much better than most of the other ultimate blogs online. The writing quality is excellent and the posts go really in-depth. What I really like, though, is that it really focuses on fundamentals of ultimate. It doesn’t get into ultimate politics. It doesn’t get into recaps, tournament stories, team bonding, anything like that. It’s just about stuff that every ultimate player should be thinking about. He just seems to really put a lot of thought into the sport and some of the insights are incredible. I suspect it may partially be because he’s in Japan and seems to be experiencing some serious ultimate withdrawal.

Cabin Fever

I’ve been cooped up inside my apartment with very little human contact and very little physical activity for about a week. You’d think that would lead to lots of writing, but instead my brain just shuts down. I need to get out into the world in order to have any inspiration and motivation to do anything. I’m starting to feel better, so now I’ve got all this pent-up energy that just needs to get let out, but having pretty much slept through the past week, I haven’t been in touch with anyone or made any sort of plans, so I’m feeling very isolated right now.
Somehow changing the site’s theme wasn’t really as satisfying as I might have hoped.

Sick

I’m sick. Lots of coughing, shitty feeling in my throat, sniffles, etc. That means I won’t be lifting tomorrow, which really sucks, and I guess I won’t be playing ultimate tomorrow night, either. Definitely shitty. Not really looking forward to coughing all afternoon tomorrow and getting evil looks from whoever is presenting in class.
